My Mother's Job

Every person is born to their parents. Most people are thankful to their mothers. I am also born to the same kind. Mothers are very compassionate to all.  As a lady, they also have their occupation, be it housewives too.

My mother is a working woman having her job as a doctor. I am really thankful to God that He had showered me blessings by giving such a tender, loving and affectionate mom. She gets up early in the morning at 4:00 am, takes a walk, does her routine activities and makes us ready for school. After finishing household chores, she leaves for her hospital and works there for about 7 hours. I am very proud of her. I acclaim her very much (a lot) at most times. Yet, there are some POWs about her job. But, sometimes just sometimes, I feel that her job is not that nice. Do you know why? Because many times she can’t give neither me nor my sister an adequate amount of time. She always will have to read really thick books which I assume that they must be about 2000 pages or so. These undesirable things make me feel very gloomy and disappointed.

As a result of these, in most times, I presume that her occupation is the best of all jobs. Though sometimes I am down at this, at all times, I feel that her occupation which she has chosen is like a true dream for me. And also whenever and wherever I feel some negative things about her and her occupation, I never ignore them. But, instead, I overcome them by thinking something positive.

As for example, it is her job and many others which is trying hard to keep us safe from the dangerous COVID pandemic. Hence, this is all about my mother’s job and I hope you also had fun reading about it. So, this is Navya Namasya Kar switching off or shall I say ciao.

Ooty

We are always bored of doing the same type of work every day. Hence, we need some change in life. A visit to a hill station is such a visit that it not only gives us pleasure but also forces us to admire the beautiful creation of God. My favourite destination is Ooty which I visited one year ago.  Last year we visited Ooty during the summer vacations. We stayed in the hotel Sinclair Retreat and enjoyed the delicious South Indian food which was Idlis, sambar and dosas. Ooty is a town in the Western Ghats mountains and is famous for its tea plantations. We visited many beautiful places such as Doddabetta Peak, a lake and a beautiful botanical garden. I was crying for ice cream in Doddabetta peak, which I finally got. I also did some mountain climbing and enjoyed the rope-way. After staying for 3-4 days, we left for home. It was the most memorable trip that I still remember. I hope very soon this COVID will go away and I will again be able to visit my favourite place.

Sonal Mansingh was born on April 30, 1944, in Bombay which is now Mumbai, India. Along with being a dancer of various Indian classical dance forms like Manipuri and Bharatnatyam, which were her dance styles from her childhood, she was a graceful Odissi dancer, another Indian, classical dance form of our wonderful state, Odisha. Besides being a dancer, she had a few other professions like being a teacher, a researcher, a choreographer, and also a social activist.

In the early 1960s, her professional dance career began. In 1965, she started training under Odissi guru Kelucharan Mohapatra in Cuttack. She did not limit her study while exploring various elements of the Oriya culture and other dance forms like chhau and Kuchipudi.

She also went under pervasive training in abhinaya which is also known as gesture expression in English. Sonal Mansingh was trained in Hindustani and Carnatic classical vocal music. She was also proficient in other languages like Sanskrit and German.

Sonal Mansingh is one of the famous personalities, who helped to spread awareness about Odissi dance by not only loving it but also performing it nationally and internationally and also winning various prestigious awards. We all are proud of her.

Patience

 Patience

Patience can be regarded as a decision-making problem: Eat up all the grain today, or plant it into the ground and wait for it to multiply. Unfortunately, human beings evolved not as farmers but as hunter-gatherers, and have a strong tendency to discount long-term rewards. Even in pre-modern, pre-technological times, the "egocentric predicament" made it difficult to exercise patience. Being both useful and difficult, patience is often thought of as a virtue, but it can also be understood as a complex of virtues including self-control, humility, tolerance, generosity, and mercy, and is itself an important aspect of other virtues such as hope, faith, and love. Patience is definitely a virtue. It is a quality that allows a person to act more beneficially on their own behalf, and on behalf of others. Impatience can lead to impulsive acts that often cause harm and unforeseen consequences. Patience allows one time to consider the possible outcomes and ramifications of any actions being considered. Patience also enables a person to keep working toward a goal that would be impossible to achieve if they were not willing to keep making an effort over an extended period of time before reaping their reward. Patience is necessary for most people to learn new things, as no one gets everything immediately or on the first try. It’s also required when teaching other people. Patience with other people is also a necessity in order to be kind and compassionate in many cases. “Trees that grow slow bear the best fruit.” It is a very nice quote that means we should be patient with everything and in the end, we will appreciate it.

And third but not the least, it helps us in improving the oxygen level of our body and also gives us relaxation. So let’s do yoga and exercise and also remember the quote “Life is short, so keep it safe and healthy with yoga.”

Dancing

Dancing makes a person’s mind relaxed. When we talk about dance, usually a professional dancer comes to our mind. But, this is where we go wrong. Dance is for anybody and everybody from a ballet dancer to the dancing at a wedding. Dance is what unites us and helps us come together to celebrate joy and express our feelings. Therefore, we must all dance without worrying if we are doing it right or not. Dance is also called the hidden language of the soul as we use it to express ourselves when words fall short. Age, weight and gender doesn’t matter when it comes to the matter of dance. Hence, we must dance our hearts out and let our bodies move to the rhythm of the music freely.

Basketball

Basketball is an outdoor game of handball played between two teams on the basketball court. A basketball is a ball that looks almost like football. The teams have to put the ball through a basketball hoop, a kind of basket, mounted high on a backboard on each side of the court. Children learn a lot about teamwork in this game because it involves a lot of teamwork. Children also make new friends while playing this game. Since we use our whole body in this game, some people also consider it as an exercise. So, if we try and try basketball and practice daily we can easily achieve success out of it.

Painting

For as long as humanity has existed, art has been part of our lives. For many years, people have been creating and enjoying art.  It expresses emotions or expressions of life. Art adds happiness and colours to our lives and saves us from the boring monotony of daily life. Art is essential as it covers all the developmental fields in child development. Also, it helps in physical development and creativity. For example, playing with dough can fine-tune our muscle control in our fingers. If there were no art, we wouldn’t have been able to see the beauty in things. In other words, art helps us feel relaxed and forget about our problems.

Will banning plastic bags help?

 Will banning plastic bags help?

Plastic bags are a major cause of environmental pollution. Plastic as a substance is non-biodegradable and thus plastic bags remain in the environment for hundreds of years polluting it immensely. It has become very essential to ban plastic bags before they ruin our planet completely. Many countries around the globe have either ppt a ban on plastic bags or a Levi tax on them. However, the problem hasn’t been solved completely because the implementation of these measures hasn’t been as successful.

Problems Caused by Plastic Bags

Here are some of the problems caused by plastic bags:

Non-Biodegradable

Plastic bags are non-biodegradable. Thus, disposing of plastics is the biggest challenge.

Deterioration of Environment

They are destroying nature due to their harmful effect. Plastic bags have become the main cause of land pollution today. The plastic bags entering the water bodies are a major cause of water pollution. Hence we can conclude that these are deteriorating our environment in every possible way.

Harmful for Animals and Marine Creatures

Animals and marine creatures unknowingly consume plastic particles along with their food. Research shows that waste plastic bags have been a major reason for untimely animal deaths.

Cause of Illness in Humans

The production of plastic bags releases toxic chemicals. These are the main cause of serious illness. The polluted environment is a major reason for various diseases which are spreading easily among human beings.

Clogged Sewage

Waste plastic bags are the main reason for trapping the drains and sewers, especially during rains. This can result in a flood-like situation and disrupt the normal life of people.

Although the Indian government has imposed a ban on the usage of plastic bags in many states. But people are still carrying these bags. Shopkeepers stop providing plastic bags for a few days only in the beginning.

It is time when we all must contribute our bit to make this ban a success.

Some contributions that can be made by people are as follows:

Keep a Tab

In order to be successful in this mission, we must keep reminding ourselves about the harmful effects of plastic bags on our nature and keep a tab on their use. Gradually, we will become habitual to doing without these bags.

Seek Alternatives

There are many eco-friendly alternatives to plastic bags like reusable jute or cloth bag.

Reuse

We must reuse the plastic bags we already have at home as many times as we can before throwing them away.

Spread Awareness

While the government is spreading awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bags, we can also spread awareness through word of mouth.

Conclusion

Although plastic is becoming a big threat to all of us, still this problem has often been overlooked and underestimated. This is because people do not look at the long-term effect of these small, easy-to-carry bags they use in their everyday life. Besides all of these people keep using bags due to their convenience. But now everyone has to completely stop using plastic bags to save our environment and the earth. Because you like to use plastic, be ready to kill yourself.
