The Mysterious Detective

 

It was very late. Emily couldn’t sleep. She lay in her bed tossing and turning, waiting to fall asleep. She started counting sheep but then she heard a loud noise. It was of a girl screaming loud. Emily went to the balcony to see what had happened.

She saw a man holding the girl’s neck with one hand and holding a knife with another. The man killed the girl. Emily called the cops. Then went to the front building, flat no:- 28 which was just in front of Emily’s balcony. But the cops didn’t find the girl’s dead body, nor the weapon and they didn’t even find a tress of blood. The cops told her that it must be her dream. Emily told the he must have cleaned the floor and would have placed the dead body somewhere else. The cops said to her that the police station is next to her building. In this short time, he couldn’t clean the floor or shift the body.

This happened with Emily every Wednesday. She would find the same man killing a different girl. Soon the cops declared that Emily was a mental patient and not to believe her words.

After a few days, a man knocked on the door and told, “I’m a detective. I would like to solve your case.”

At first, Emily thought that the detective was that same man who killed girls. But then, she remembered it was a Saturday, not a Wednesday. So, she let him in. Yet, she felt that something was fishy about the detective. The detective stayed in Emily’s house for a few days. Then, one night, he saw a man killing a girl. When he looked closer, he was shocked. It was his brother! He went downstairs and hid behind a tree. He found out that his brother killed the girl, and then went from one tree to another like a ninja. He asked himself, “Is my brother, a ninja?” 

He then went to him, the next day. At first, he asked his brother simple questions like, ‘How are you? How is your health?’ and all. Then, he asked him, “Brother, what have you been doing?” He knew that his brother was a truthful man so he would tell the truth. His brother told him, “I have had a very hard time, recently. One day, I was out hunting when suddenly, I met a lion and he told me that he would eat me up if I will not give him a child to eat daily. So I have been killing a child every day and giving to him.” The detective consoled him and said, “Dear brother, please don’t be sad. I have a plan to make sure he doesn’t come again.” 

According to the detective’s plan, they both went to the lion and told him, “Dear Lion, we have a surprise for you. Please go inside the machine and you will find lots of children in there to eat.” The lion went inside the machine. Then, he found out that the two of them had fooled him and there was actually nothing in the machine. But when he found that out, it was too late. The brothers had pressed a button and the machine, with the lion inside, was disappearing. Both the brothers high-fived and said, “Mystery solved” at the same time.
