My Mother's Job

Every person is born to their parents. Most people are thankful to their mothers. I am also born to the same kind. Mothers are very compassionate to all.  As a lady, they also have their occupation, be it housewives too.

My mother is a working woman having her job as a doctor. I am really thankful to God that He had showered me blessings by giving such a tender, loving and affectionate mom. She gets up early in the morning at 4:00 am, takes a walk, does her routine activities and makes us ready for school. After finishing household chores, she leaves for her hospital and works there for about 7 hours. I am very proud of her. I acclaim her very much (a lot) at most times. Yet, there are some POWs about her job. But, sometimes just sometimes, I feel that her job is not that nice. Do you know why? Because many times she can’t give neither me nor my sister an adequate amount of time. She always will have to read really thick books which I assume that they must be about 2000 pages or so. These undesirable things make me feel very gloomy and disappointed.

As a result of these, in most times, I presume that her occupation is the best of all jobs. Though sometimes I am down at this, at all times, I feel that her occupation which she has chosen is like a true dream for me. And also whenever and wherever I feel some negative things about her and her occupation, I never ignore them. But, instead, I overcome them by thinking something positive.

As for example, it is her job and many others which is trying hard to keep us safe from the dangerous COVID pandemic. Hence, this is all about my mother’s job and I hope you also had fun reading about it. So, this is Navya Namasya Kar switching off or shall I say ciao.

Ooty

We are always bored of doing the same type of work every day. Hence, we need some change in life. A visit to a hill station is such a visit that it not only gives us pleasure but also forces us to admire the beautiful creation of God. My favourite destination is Ooty which I visited one year ago.  Last year we visited Ooty during the summer vacations. We stayed in the hotel Sinclair Retreat and enjoyed the delicious South Indian food which was Idlis, sambar and dosas. Ooty is a town in the Western Ghats mountains and is famous for its tea plantations. We visited many beautiful places such as Doddabetta Peak, a lake and a beautiful botanical garden. I was crying for ice cream in Doddabetta peak, which I finally got. I also did some mountain climbing and enjoyed the rope-way. After staying for 3-4 days, we left for home. It was the most memorable trip that I still remember. I hope very soon this COVID will go away and I will again be able to visit my favourite place.

Sonal Mansingh biography

Good evening everyone. Today I am going to speak about a daughter of Mumbai who was able to prove herself as the proud daughter of Odisha through her amazing, heart-touching Odissi dance. She is none other than Sonal Mansingh.

Sonal Mansingh was born on April 30, 1944, in Bombay which is now Mumbai, India. Along with being a dancer of various Indian classical dance forms like Manipuri and Bharatnatyam, which were her dance styles from her childhood, she was a graceful Odissi dancer, another Indian, classical dance form of our wonderful state, Odisha. Besides being a dancer, she had a few other professions like being a teacher, a researcher, a choreographer, and also a social activist.

In the early 1960s, her professional dance career began. In 1965, she started training under Odissi guru Kelucharan Mohapatra in Cuttack. She did not limit her study while exploring various elements of the Oriya culture and other dance forms like chhau and Kuchipudi.

She also went under pervasive training in abhinaya which is also known as gesture expression in English. Sonal Mansingh was trained in Hindustani and Carnatic classical vocal music. She was also proficient in other languages like Sanskrit and German.

For her work, she was the recipient of many awards like the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987, Padma Bhushan, India’s third-largest award, in 1992, and Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-largest award, in 2003.

Sonal Mansingh is one of the famous personalities, who helped to spread awareness about Odissi dance by not only loving it but also performing it nationally and internationally and also winning various prestigious awards. We all are proud of her.
